ON VOYAGE DANS LE TEMPS À VERMILIONVILLE :
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
SUMMER CAMP 2017 IS SOLD OUT (Early registration for Summer Camp 2018 begins in March 2018)
Vermilionville will be hosting our fifth annual summer camp series on four separate weeks during the summer months. Each week is tailored to a
specific age group in order to provide age appropriate and skill level demonstrations and hands-on craft opportunities! This year, we are continuing
to offer TWO French immersion weeks, divided by age. The camp will begin with ages 5-8 in English June 19-23, ages 9-12 in English June 26-30,
ages 5-8 in French July 10-14 and ages 9-12 in French July 17-21.
While your children are with us for a week, they will experience the total Vermilionville package. The camp will start every morning at 8:45 AM (morning drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m., no sooner) and last until 4 PM in the afternoon (all campers must be picked up by 4:15 p.m.). We will also provide the campers with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack from La Cuisine de Maman. If your child has any allergies, we will need to know in advance in order to accommodate their needs.
This summer camp is targeted at children between the ages 5-12 (all campers must have completed Kindergarten or a home-school equivalent). Throughout the week, campers will get to learn about all the different things that make Acadiana so unique. For part of the week, they will focus on the earth, plants, bayous, and natural resources, and our gardener and chef will teach the campers about everything from planting your own food to preparing your own lunch. They will also discover our historic village and learn about what life was like for the Acadians, Creoles and Native Americans during our time period: 1765-1890. The campers will get to work with our artisans and musicians to learn about their crafts and history. Each day, campers will partake in hands on projects that they will take home with them at the end of the week (in the past, we have done fishing poles, bird feeders, tit fers, talking sticks, seedling packets, etc). They will also record their activities over the week in their very own hand-made journal. The week will end with a show off day for parents and siblings.
The camp will emphasize both the English and French language, however, the last two week-long sessions will be conducted entirely in French. Children should be fluent in French or have completed a minimum of 1 year in a French Immersion classroom to participate in a French immersion session.
The registration fee covers all materials associated with hands-on crafts as well as food. If your child has any dietary restrictions, please communicate this to us on the registration form. We recommend that campers wear comfortable clothes and bring a beach towel, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, a hat and a change of clothes.
The total cost for each week is $250, which includes the cost of a camp t-shirt and water bottle. Siblings who register for camp as well will receive a $50 discount. There is a required, non-refundable deposit of $100 upon registration. There is a $3 charge to pay online. The final balance is due on the first day of camp.
